Botánica Doméstica 2024

Las Mitocondria present a performance that combines the female body, nature, and art through four symbolic scenes. Three young girls play amidst the installationTerra Mater /Abrazos, observed by their mothers, and set off on an evocative procession. The girls’ choreographies intertwine with readings of texts and videos on the theme of intergenerational care, exploring the bonds between generations. The singing and movements of the artists reflect the ambivalence of nature, oscillating between care and danger. The work concludes with a representation of the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth.

The climax of the journey is the final procession, leading to the concluding triptych. Here, the girls embody concepts deeply rooted in femininity and nature: womb, root, mother, vulva, rebirth, and earth. As the final image, their now weary bodies recline on the ground, accompanied by three adult figures dressed in black. It forms a geometric composition of bodies in black and white, life and death interwoven in perfect balance. The silence and stillness of the performers, with their eyes closed, encapsulate the entire journey undertaken through words, movement, song, and nature.
